Sophomore quarterback Braden Wright led Northwest to 24 unanswered points in the second half as the Bearcats knocked off Washburn 38-17 Saturday afternoon. Two days later, the MIAA tabbed him as the conference's offensive player of the week.

Wright threw for a career-high 278 yards and two touchdowns, and rushed for 47 yards and a score.

Hanging onto a four-point lead, the Elkhorn, Nebraska native hit Marqus Andrews for a 43-yard gain down to the two-yard line to set up a touchdown run for Justin Rankin.

Then late in the fourth quarter, Wright rushed into the end zone from five yards out to seal the victory.

Wright leads Northwest against Missouri Southern in Joplin Saturday at 6pm. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 5pm.
